In response to claims of highly manipulated box office figures for Brahmastra, Kangana Ranaut has responded.
In response to one such tweet, the actor posted a Story on Sunday. In a statement on Saturday, co-producer Karan Johar said that Brahmastra opened to a worldwide gross of $75 million.
Her tweet referred to ‘manipulated figures’ in Brahmastra as shared by filmmaker-writer Eray Mridula Cather. A few trade analysts aren’t giving #Brahmastra BO figures because they are manipulated. The ones who’re going crazy over fake BO figures are well compensated. Over 60% to 70% are fake figures. It’s not just ego, it’s coke-ego!” Kangana replied to it on Instagram Stories, “Wow, that’s a new low. 70 percent.”
Earlier this week, director Ayan Mukerji released his long-awaited film Brahmastra in theaters. Among others, Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy, Nagarjuna, Ranbir Kapoor, Shah Rukh Khan, and other big names from Bollywood appear in the film.
A domestic box office report from Boxofficeindia.com indicates that Brahmastra opened at 37 crores and made 76 crores in two days. Additionally, it predicted that $9-10 million would be collected during the weekend.
Kangana came down heavily on all those linked to Brahmastra on the day of its release. As a response to some negative reviews, she said, “This is what happens when you try to sell a lie. @karanjohar forces people to call @aliabhatt and Ranbir best actors, and @ayan_mukerji a genius. It took him a while to believe this lie. What else would explain the 600 crore budget of this movie for a director who never made a good film before? Fox studios had to sell themselves to fund this film. How many more studios will be closed as a result of this clowns?”
Ayan Mukerji should be jailed immediately for calling him a genius, she added. Additionally, she alleged that they arrested self-proclaimed film critic Kamaal R Khan.
