Varanasi, July 21 ( P2P News ): A Varanasi court ordered a scientific survey of the Gyanvapi mosque located next to the Kashi Vishwanath temple. The survey was sought by a group of Hindu devotees to determine whether the mosque was built on the site of a Hindu temple.
The court has excluded the barricaded ‘wazukhana’ from the survey, where a structure claimed by Hindu litigants to be a ‘shivling’ exists. The court upheld the petition of the Hindu group seeking the survey, despite opposition from the Muslim side, which expressed concerns that the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) survey could potentially damage the complex.
