Late on Thursday evening, two persons were arrested for culpable homicide not amounting to murder after the body of a 38-year-old woman was found in a car parked in an open field in Satapgarh village in Zirakpur.
Ajay of Jalandhar and Manavjeet of Sultanpur Lodhi were identified as the accused. Ajay and the victim were at a hotel in Sector 118 on November 15, according to sources.
In response to a complaint from the victim’s elder sister, a case had been filed. Dera Bassi police found no injuries on the deceased’s body earlier Local.
Ajay, an immigration agent and his friend Manavjeet had been contacted by the complainant’s sister, a divorcee staying with her father in Derabassi, and wanting to move abroad.
The accused allegedly forced her sister to drink heavily and failed to take her to a hospital when she became ill.
A senior officer who knew the case said, “They drank heavily at the hotel and left the hotel intoxicated the next morning.” As a result of her excessive alcohol consumption, the woman was brought down on a chair in the hotel lobby and it was captured on CCTV.”
At around 2.10 am on Wednesday, Ajay fled after leaving the car and the victim behind while driving the victim’s car.
Our police teams have already been dispatched to arrest the accused, and we hope they will be arrested soon,” a policeman said.
The Zirakpur police station has registered a case under Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), Section 201 (causing disappearance of evidence) and Section 34 (acts done by several persons) of the Indian Penal Code.
