To teach a lesson, AAP to take action against MLA Khaira

Chandigarh, January 2 (P2P) :

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is considering the party rebel MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira responsible for the current situation of the party in Punjab.

The party is set to teach Khaira a lesson. A petition filed against Khaira under the anti-defection law by the opposition leader Harpal Singh Cheema is pending with the Speaker of the Punjab Legislative Assembly, while Khaira has withdrawn his resignation in October 2019. In this way, the party has decided to go to the High Court against Khaira. The party high command is consulting legal experts. Cheema says that the party will soon go to the High Court.

On 26 July 2018, the party removed Sukhpal Khaira from the post of leader of the party in Assembly for opposing party and made Cheema the leader of the legislative party. Khaira was revolted by the party’s decision. They started separate activities with the support of six MLAs, forming a separate faction. On 3 November 2018, Sukhpal Khaira and MLA Kanwar Sandhu were suspended for indiscipline.
