The police in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, and Jalandhar, Punjab, have arrested three people for killing a cloth merchant in the city.
A relative of one of the accused lives in Bahraich and Gurpreet, Shivdas, and Deepak Sharma came there by train on November 14.
A fake identity was supposed to allow them to stay in Bahraich.
Vivek Singh, Station House Officer (SHO), Visheshwarganj, said they had been informed by the Jalandhar police that the three criminals were present in Bahraich.
According to Singh, one of the accused, Deepak Sharma, had a relative in Netaipurwa village, Gujraghat, and was possibly hiding there. We found two houses where people from outside had recently arrived.
After being informed, a police team from Jalandhar went to the village and nailed the houses, disguised as loan providers.
When the three accused were brought before a court for remand, Gurpreet Singh, SHO of Jalandhar Zone II, said they denied knowledge of Kunal’s murder.
Further, Deepak, who also worked at a cloth shop, allegedly had a verbal spat with Kunal, the victim whose mobile phone had allegedly been broken.
A fight broke out between the victim and Deepak on November 14, and Deepak requested Kunal to get his mobile phone fixed, but Kunal was unwilling to do so. A friend of Deepak, Gurpreet, and Shivdas reached the scene and tried to calm them down. They hit Kunal with an iron rod and Kunal succumbed to his injuries two days later.”
