DGCA has ordered an investigation into the circumstances surrounding an earlier departure of a flight to Singapore, which left 35 passengers behind at the Amritsar airport.
An investigation was launched by the aviation regulator after a Scoot Airline flight that was scheduled to depart from the Amritsar airport at 7.55pm on Wednesday took off at 3pm.
A protest was staged by angry passengers left behind at the airport as a result of this event. The airport authorities were notified of their complaint.
Airlines informed the airport authorities that passengers were emailed about the change in flight time after contacting the airport authorities.
The Amritsar airport director told that about 280 passengers were supposed to travel to Singapore, but 253 passengers had to reschedule, leaving over 30 passengers behind.
Singapore Airlines’ wholly-owned subsidiary Scoot Airline and the Amritsar Airport authority were both requested to provide information by the DGCA.
Passengers were notified via email about the change in schedule, according to the airline. As a result, the airline flew with the passengers who had reported on time, as the travel agent, who booked the tickets, had not informed them (passengers) about the change in flight timings.
