As tension simmers in his state following the activities of Khalistani sympathiser Amritpal Singh and his supporters, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said Khalistan supporters are receiving funding from Pakistan and other countries.

While Mann was in Gujarat, he said the Punjab Police were capable of handling the Khalistani issue and that there were only a few pro-Khalistan supporters there.

Are these 1,000 people (who have been seen shouting pro-Khalistan slogans) representative of all Punjabis? Mann said when asked what he had to say about pro-Khalistan slogans being raised in Punjab after the Amritpal incident, “Come to Punjab and see for yourself.”

After attending a mass wedding function in Bhavnagar city in Gujarat, he addressed a press conference.

The shops are run by a handful of individuals who receive funding from Pakistan and other foreign countries,” Mann said.

Why do drones (sent from Pakistan) land in Punjab rather than Rajasthan, despite Rajasthan sharing a larger border with Pakistan? (Khalistani elements) want to disturb Punjab because their masters are sitting there (in Pakistan). However, we will not allow them to succeed,” he said.

Amritpal allegedly threatened more violence in the coming days, but Mann downplayed his threat. It’s khayali pulao (daydreaming). Punjab has seen such dark days in the past. There is no way anyone can vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in Punjab, he said, adding that the Punjab Police are capable of handling them.

As a result of the Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab, many industries, including Tata Steel, are coming to Punjab.

These industries would not have invested in Punjab had Punjab’s situation been so bad. Many NRIs are returning, and those who were planning to settle abroad have now canceled their plans. After six to seven months, Punjab will shine again,” he said.

Providing jobs to youth will soon make Punjab a drug-free zone. In addition, industry will also create more employment opportunities. “When the youth get jobs, they won’t turn to bad habits for refuge,” Mann said.
