An official from the Maharashtra government announced on Saturday that the November 3 bypoll will be a public holiday in the Andheri East Assembly constituency.
As stated in an official release, this holiday will apply to central and state government offices, semi-government offices, public enterprises, banks, and other institutions.
Voters working outside the Assembly constituency will also be eligible for the holiday, according to the release.
Mumbai suburban district collector and district election officer Nidhi Choudhary appealed to citizens to vote in large numbers in this byelection in order to increase voting percentages.
As a result of the collapse of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in June, this will be the first byelection in the state since then.
