For tertiary care treatment in the state, the Punjab Government plans to bring in super-specialists.
Government Medical College, Patiala, will be appointed a private neurosurgeon for head injury cases, said Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh. Government Medical Colleges in Faridkot and Amritsar will make more such appointments after evaluating the results of this experiment.
Additionally, Bhagwant Mann will dedicate 500 Aam Aadmi Clinics to the Punjabi people in order to provide free and top-notch treatment.
On August 15, he inaugurated the first phase of 100 clinics. A total of 500 clinics will now be available after 400 new ones have been built.
In a press conference in Mohali, Health Minister Harpal Singh Cheema and Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema announced the clinic will be inaugurated on January 27 in Amritsar. Arvind Kejriwal, AAP convener and Delhi Chief Minister, will attend the event as the chief guest.
Within a year of the AAP government’s formation, Cheema said, a revolution in the health sector had begun in Punjab. Kejriwal had promised the people of Punjab free treatment and the setting up of mohalla clinics before the elections. It appears that the CM has fulfilled all of his promises now, he said.
Aam Aadmi Clinics have treated more than 10 lakh people and examined more than three lakh free of charge, Dr Balbir Singh said. In addition, the people received free medicines.
It was reported that the ministers refused to approve the spending of Rs 30 crore on a campaign for Aam Aadmi Clinics on which the government had already spent Rs 10 crore.
