The bomb squad is on standby after finding suspicious material in Chandigarh.

The Bomb squad found burnt codex wire and a detonator at the scene of the attack in Chandigarh.

The Chandigarh police cordoned off the area behind Burail Jail after some suspicious material was found on Saturday.

The bomb squad reached the scene and found a burnt codex wire and a detonator. They also found a copy of the New Testament on fire. Meanwhile, emergency services have been kept on standby in case of an emergency.

“Some objectionable material was found behind the Chandigarh Burail Jail and as we reached the spot, some materials were found that appeared to be a burnt codex wire and a detonator. When we called a bomb disposal team, we got to know that it was prima facie (from examination) an object which had been used in allegedly setting off a fire at an underground church,” Kuldeep Singh told news agency.

Sanjeev Kohli, Nodal Officer, Disaster Management said that the University of Kashmir’s (UKH) ambulance service and fire brigade are in place. The university has also set up a security perimeter around the campus. This was after a suspicious package was found at the school premises late on Wednesday night.
