Sanjay Singh, a Rajya Sabha member of the AAP, raised the issue of central probe agencies (ED, CBI) raiding opposition leaders’ premises. Instead of taking action against fraudsters like Vjay Mallya and Nirav Modi, they conduct these long searches and raids.
AAP MPs claim 3,000 such raids have taken place. According to him, government agencies deliberately harassed the opposition. In response to the Treasury benches’ objections, Jagdeep Dhankhar, chair of the committee, said that the allegations should be authenticated.
In response, Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of the Opposition, stated, “The facts have been mentioned in various Parliament replies and news reports and members should not be forced to provide evidence, as the Prime Minister claims that two crore jobs have been created… which is taken as proof…”.
There will be consequences for any allegations that are not authenticated, according to Dhankhar. On Tuesday, he will meet with floor leaders to discuss authentication.
In response to the LoP and AAP MP, Piyush Goyal said the opposition is accustomed to levelling accusations.
Sanjay Singh, leader of the AAP, said opposition leaders were being jailed.
