Balkaur Singh, the father of the slain Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala, confirmed on Saturday he will not contest any elections and urged people not to pay attention to rumors about him running.
His statement came a day after Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring endorsed an economist’s suggestion that Balkaur is elected unopposed from the Sangrur Lok Sabha constituency.
Balkaur Singh posted a video on his late son’s Instagram account in which he expressed sorrow over social media speculation. According to the video, Singh has no intention of running in any elections.
“Don’t be swayed,” Balkaur told people. “My son’s pyre has not yet been extinguished. I am not seeking an election,” he said.
Announcing that he would share his thoughts following his son’s ‘bhog’ ceremony on June 8, he thanked people for sharing their grief with his family.
