According to Sukhbir Singh Badal, SAD president, lawless elements at Ajnala tried to use Guru Granth Sahib ‘saroop’ for their selfish motives and took the sacred scripture to a police station as a shield.
SAD president also lambasted the BJP government at the Centre and the AAP government in Punjab for vitiating the atmosphere in the state and destroying the hard-earned atmosphere of peace and harmony.
“They are trying to polarize the state on a communal basis,” Sukhbir Badal said after presiding over his party’s core committee meeting.
According to the SAD president, the government led by Parkash Singh Badal had brought peace, communal harmony, and massive all-round development to the state, adding that no state could progress without peace, stability, and communal harmony. “But two successive governments of Congress and AAP have destroyed the achievements of those 15 years.”
Sukhbir Badal said yesterday’s outrage at Ajnala was shocking, unbelievable, and unforgivable. At Ajnala yesterday, no Sikh has ever shown such brazen disrespect to Guru Granth Sahib.”
