Sexual assault of 7 year old girl: SIT formed to thoroughly investigate case

Ludhiana, February 13 (P2P) :
 Rajinder Singh, Chairman of the Punjab State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, today informed that he has asked the Commissioner of Police Ludhiana to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to thoroughly investigate the case related to sexual assault on 7-year-old girl. He also met the victim at Doraha and directed the police to give custody of the victim to her family.
Following directions of Chairman of the Punjab State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Commissioner of Police Mr Rakesh Agrawal has former a three member team comprising Mr Deepak Pareek, Joint CP City,  Miss Pragya Jain ADCP Zone 1 and Ms Rupinder Kaur Sra ADCP Zone 4. Mr Agrawal informed that the SIT has been directed to thoroughly investigate the matter and submit their report at the earliest.
Mr Rajinder Singh informed that he met the victim as well as her family members today and have assured all possible support. He said that the District Administration has been directed to get case related to compensation to of the victim prepared through the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) at the earliest.
He also directed Deputy Commissioner Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma to ensure that tutorial groups are formed in schools for creating awareness amongst the students regarding consequences of such crimes. He also directed that continuous counselling of the victim should be done.
While holding a meeting with Deputy Commissioner, Commissioner of Police and other senior officials at Circuit House, here today, Mr Rajinder Singh, Chairman, Punjab State Commission for Protection of Child Rights showed satisfaction over the investigation being carried out by the officials of Police Commissionerate Ludhiana.
