Ajayvir Singh Lalpura was chased by two youths, one of whom was Amarjeet Singh Sandoa’s nephew, last night in Ropar, and was allegedly armed with a gun.
The police booked Sandoa’s cousin Jaspreet Singh, as well as his accomplice Jaskaran Singh, both from Takhatgarh village.
An incident occurred around 11.30 pm near the Azampur by-pass when Surinderpal Singh and Ajayvir were driving towards Kalwan area when a Swift stopped in front of them, blocking the road. He and Ajayvir were then approached by two youths with guns. According to Surinderpal, both defendants fled the scene after he informed the police.
When contacted, Jaspreet’s father confirmed that he was related to Sandoa. There was no political rivalry involved in the incident, he said. Since Channan Singh has not seen his son since yesterday evening, he is unaware of all the facts.
A case has been filed against the accused under Sections 341, 283, 506, 34 of the IPC and the Arms Act, according to Nurpur Bedi SHO Bhupinder Singh.
