Samrat Prithviraj box office collection day 5: Akshay Kumar’s film continues to suffer

Samrat Prithviraj, Akshay Kumar’s recently released film, seems to be struggling at the box office. Box office expectations were high for the period drama.

Box office performance, however, has been disappointing. The box office for Samrat Prithviraj dropped sharply on its first Tuesday. According to early estimates, the film has earned just Rs 48 crore so far, following a low-key opening of just Rs 10.70 crore. According to reports, the film’s shows are also being cut down, as most of the morning shows saw occupancy rates of only ten percent or less.

There were mixed reviews for the film when it opened. As predicted, the film had a sluggish start on opening day and continued to decline over the weekend. Samrat Prithviraj saw a massive drop in occupancy on Day 5, June 7, over morning shows, according to early trade reports. Its single day earnings were just Rs 4.40 crore. Therefore, the total domestic box office collection would be Rs 48.80 crore. On Tuesday, June 7, Samrat Prithviraj had a 10.25 per cent Hindi occupancy.

Samrat Prithviraj earned a total of Rs 44.40 crore on Day 4, June 6. Adarsh tweeted, “#SamratPrithviraj has a sharp decline on Day 4… Should’ve scored in double digits or thereabouts to make up for the unsatisfactory business on Day 1 and 2… Business at national chains remains dull… Fri 10.70 cr, Sat 12.60 cr, Sun 16.10 cr, Mon 5 cr. Total: 44.40 cr. #India biz (sic).”

King Prithviraj Chauhan is the subject of the Akshay Kumar-starrer Samrat Prithviraj. In the film, Manushi Chhillar plays Sanyogita, the beloved of King Prithviraj Chauhan. Also starring are Sanjay Dutt and Sonu Sood. Samrat Prithviraj was released on June 3 in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
