Balamurgan said the government was already returning funds spent on the function from the NRI Sabha when asked about the use of NRI Sabha funds for the “NRI Punjabian Nal Milni” event.
In a written statement, he clarified that “the government has already reimbursed the NRI Sabha for the expenses associated with all arrangements at the different venues as per Section 18 (A) of the bylaws.”
One of the objectives of the NRI Sabha is to resolve the grievances of NRIs quickly.
The NRI Sabha is a society that is duly registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, with the government’s approval, he added.
