A government job provided to Krishan Bhagwan Singh on compassionate grounds was resigned today by Krishan Bhagwan Singh’s son in protest against the state government’s failure to provide justice in seven years.

After Krishan Singh’s death in October 2015, Prabhdeep Singh was appointed to the Education Department. For the past year, Krishan’s Bhagwan other son, Sukhraj Singh, has been sitting on a protest dharna on the National Highway near Behbal Kalan village.

“The state government offered me a job seven years ago with a promise of punishing all those responsible for my father’s death,” said Prabhdeep. Sukhraj, my elder brother, has been sitting on a dharna demanding justice for the last year. Keeping my government job makes no sense when my family hasn’t received justice for my father’s murder,” he said.

During the peaceful protest, Sukhraj said there was a conspiracy to weaken it. On December 15, after the protesters at Behbal Kalan called for a blockage of the Amritsar-Bathinda highway, we received word that the protesters would be held accountable for any deaths on the road. A commuter could be used as a scapegoat to defame protesters if we blocked the road,” he said.
