Patiala was ignored by Capt Amarinder Singh's government: Bhagwant Mann

During his tenure as Chief Minister, Capt Amarinder Singh ignored Patiala, according to Bhagwant Mann.

During the Congress tenure, Mann also ordered a Vigilance Bureau investigation into the Patiala Mayor’s activities and disproportionate assets.

The successive rulers of Patiala lagged behind in development despite being the capital. He said the city was burdened with the cost of decorating the palaces of those in power.

After reviewing the progress on development projects worth Rs 167 crore, the Chief Minister said it was ironic that the ‘maharajas’ in power were more concerned about their own development than the city’s.

According to Mann, most of the projects, including the construction of a new bus stand, roads, drain channelization, and a digital library at Musafir Memorial Central State Library, have been hanging fire for a long time.

Adding that a state-of-the-art bus stand would be completed by April 1, he said his government is committed to the development of Patiala.

According to the Chief Minister, Rs 20 crore will be spent on extending 24X7 canal water supply to city residents, and work on channelizing and beautifying the model town drain will be finished by March 31.

The Rajindra Tank will be developed into a tourist spot, and the Musafir Memorial Central State Library will be digitized for Rs 8.26 crore.

Capt Amarinder Singh, who recently joined the BJP, reacted by claiming all new projects to be completed in a few months were started during his tenure.

“How ironic!” tweeted Amarinder. As Bhagwant Mann arrives in Patiala, he declares that he has done nothing for the city, and then announces that same projects he had already begun during his tenure are nearing completion.

“Will the CM stand up and tell us what new projects he has given to the city or state?” he replied in another tweet.
