Kulwinder Singh, a Moga youth, has been charged with cheating an NRI woman by backtracking from his marriage proposal.
Several years ago, he met the woman on an online matrimonial website. An Amritsar native who settled in California, he proposed to the woman originally from Chowk Mehta, Amritsar.
In his interview with the NRI, Kulwinder claimed to be an expert truck driver. As truck drivers were in high demand in the US, the woman told him that he could earn a lot there if he moved there. Her proposal was accepted by the youth.
Over the course of two years, the woman kept sending him money and expensive gifts.
Several months ago, she discovered that Kulwinder had wed another woman. He did not respond to her calls when she tried to contact him.
According to the victim NRI woman, “he proposed marriage, but kept delaying it.”. I sent him money, household items, and gifts to help him through bad times, only to discover he was married to someone else”.
At the Moga City-I police station, the police have registered a case against the alleged accused youth under Section 420 of the IPC.
