On Saturday, ten grams of 24-carat gold cost Rs 50,670, down Rs 820 from Friday’s trading price. Silver is selling for Rs 58,700 on May 14. On Saturday, the price of a kilogram of silver also decreased to Rs 58,700. On Saturday, the price of 22-carat gold for ten grams stood at Rs 46,450 in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, and Bengaluru. Chennai has a price of Rs 47,640, while Jaipur and Lucknow have a price of Rs 46,600.
In most of the major cities – Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Pune – the price for a kg of silver on May 14 is Rs 58,700, except for Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad, where the price was Rs 63,400.
As of this morning, one gram of 22-carat gold costs Rs 4,645 while eight grams of the precious metal cost Rs 37,160. Ten grams of the precious metal will set you back Rs 46,450 while 100 grams will cost Rs 4,64,500.
Over the years, the shiny yellow metal has served as a good investment against inflation, with gold jewellery rates varying across the country due to taxes imposed by states, excise duty and varying manufacturing fees.
In India, silver prices are determined by changes in international prices, as well as by the movement of the rupee against the dollar. If the rupee falls against its international counterpart but the international prices remain consistent, silver becomes more expensive.
