On December 5, Aaftab Amin Poonawalla, the man accused of strangling and chopping up his live-in partner Shraddha Walkar, is expected to undergo his narco test.
A narco test request from Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) has not been received by Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital’s Medical Director, Navneet Goel.
A narco test is conducted in an operation theatre by Dr Naveen Kumar, the Nodal Officer. “We do narco tests only on Mondays, and we perform regular surgery the rest of the time. Usually, we have one narco case a day, but sometimes we have two.”
A narco-analysis test is conducted only after Forensic Science Laboratory tests and investigations are completed, said Dr Kumar.
During the narco test, only doctors are present, and no police personnel are allowed inside the operating room.
After his polygraph test for the day, Aaftab was taken by the police during the alleged clash.
As part of today’s test, the Expert team is conducting polygraphs. We may need to continue the test tomorrow as well. Following our test, the Narco test will be conducted,” he said.
In view of Aaftab’s “ill health”, the first polygraph test session has been postponed. After Poonawala reportedly “fell ill”, the second session of the test was also postponed. On November 25 and 26, respectively, the second and third sessions were held.
According to police, Aaftab was giving misleading answers to questions after confessing to killing Shraddha and chopping up her body into 35 pieces.
