To induct the newcomers into the quintessential culture and ethos of the institution, Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, hosted an infotainment extravaganza. MCM student Ms. Purujit Kaur, Security and Safety Communications Focal Point, UN Women Security and Safety Services, UN Women Headquarters, New York, was the Special Guest on this occasion. Giving a warm welcome to the newcomers, Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava said that the college is proud to be carrying forward Swami Dayanand Saraswati ji’s vision of ‘krinvanto vishwam aryam’. She added that the college is working incessantly for ensuring students’ holistic development and character building. Dr. Bhargava, sharing her valuable words of advice, urged the newcomers to live up to the vision of the institution. She ended her address on a motivational note with her self-composed ‘Anmol Moti’, filling the students with positivity. Speaking at the occasion, an emotional Ms. Purujit reminiscenced her initial years at MCM and motivated the students to rewrite their own story, challenge norms, dream big, step into bigger canvases of life and be the architects of their own lives.

The Deans and Conveners of various Committees and Clubs of the college were introduced on this occasion. The winners of Panjab University Zonal and Inter-Zonal competitions were awarded cash prizes during the event. A feisty skit with a touch of humour introducing the freshers to the college rules, melodious song performances and dance performances won the hearts of all the viewers. Singer Bhavdeep Romana thrilled the audience with his electric performance. Marking the upcoming International Women’s Equality Day, pledge for women’s equality was administered on this occasion. Ms. Fresher Contest was the highlight of the event wherein the newcomers walked down the ramp, vying for the coveted title. After various rounds, the shortlisted finalists went on to the question-answer round wherein the beauties with brains answered the questions in an immaculate and poised manner, showcasing their eloquence and confidence.
