
In connection with a terror case in Punjab, the NIA today announced a cash reward of Rs 15 lakh for information leading to the arrest of Canadian gangster-turned-terrorist Lakhbir Singh Sandhu, alias Landa.
Sharing the reward notice with the media, a spokesperson for the NIA said, “A cash reward of Rs 15 lakh has been announced for any information leading to Landa’s arrest. The official said the informer’s identity would remain secret.
Landa, a native of Tarn Taran in Punjab, is suspected to be living in Edmonton in Canada in relation to the grenade attack on the Punjab Police Intelligence Headquarters in Mohali in 2022.
After it emerged that terror outfits and terror elements based abroad were committing targeted killings and violent criminal acts in northern states of the country in tandem with leaders and members of organised criminal gangs, the NIA opened a case in 2022.
Through a widespread interstate network of gunrunners, illegal arms and ammunition manufacturers and suppliers, explosive traffickers, and explosive traffickers, the terror-gangster-drug smuggler network was also involved in smuggling terrorist hardware across the border, including arms, ammunition, explosives, and IEDs.
According to the NIA, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) designated Canada-based Arsh Dalla as an “individual terrorist” on January 9.
