A judicial enquiry has been initiated over the case of a Chennai man dying while in police custody

on Wednesday, April 20. Vignesh died on Wednesday after he reportedly suffered seizures and started vomiting while in police custody.

He was taken to the hospital, where he was declared dead.

Vignesh and Ramesh (alias Suresh) were taken to the police station after they were caught while travelling in an autorickshaw with ganja in their possession. Officials said that both of them had injury marks on their faces and possessed a knife as well. They even tried to flee when officials tried to arrest them.

A few hours after they were taken to the station, Vigensh developed seizures and was taken to the hospital where he was declared dead.

On Wednesday, April 20, the autopsy of Vignesh’s body was done in the presence of a magistrate at the Kilpauk Medical college hospital.

The body was later handed over to Vignesh’s brother, Vinoth. The family was prevented from speaking to the media.

Meanwhile, the magistrate also questioned the police officials about the circumstances of the arrest. Officials, according to sources, informed that Vignesh and another man named G Ramesh were caught when they were travelling in an autorickshaw having possession of weed.

When officials tried to arrest them, the two tried to flee. They were caught and taken into custody.

Police officials have also not commented on the allegations of custodial death and said that the matter is under judicial enquiry.
