Earlier in IPL 2022, Chennai Superkings lost to Mumbai Indians after which they were eliminated from the tournament.
Mumbai had been reduced to 33/4 at one point, but they had them on the mat. It might have been 33/5 had the umpire’s decision been right. It was Hrithik Shokeen who was given out, but the DRS proved that the decision by the on-field umpire was incorrect, and it came after the umpire showed a lot of apprehension. Seeing it on TV, the fans started slamming him on Twitter. Some even claimed that MS Dhoni pressured him to raise his finger.

After bowling Chennai Super Kings out for 97 in Match 59 of the IPL 2022, Mumbai Indians survived some anxious moments to rattle the runs and claim a five-wicket victory at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday with Daniel Sams taking 3/16, Riley Meredith taking 2/27 and Kumar Kartikeya taking 2/22.
As Mumbai Indians chased 98 for victory, Ishan Kishan (6) and skipper Rohit Sharma (18) fell cheaply. As a result of sensible batting by Tilak Varma (34 not out, 32 balls, 4*4), Hrithik Shokeen (18, 23 balls, 2 x 4), and Tim David (16 not out, 7 balls, 6 x 2), Mumbai Indians reached 103/5 and won their third match in 12 matches.
Choosing to bowl first, Mumbai Indians pacers bowled good lines and hard length and used the wicket’s juice effectively. Even in the eighth over, the ball was swinging, but there was no demon on the pitch. On some occasions, CSK were hard done, but their batters failed to counter the condition and good bowling.
In reply, Mumbai looked in trouble as they ended the powerplay at 36/4, only slightly better than CSK who were 32/5. With his superb line and length and use of the juice in the pitch, Mukesh Choudhary claimed 3/23 in four unchanged overs, troubling the Mumbai Indian batters. However, the score of 97 did not give CSK enough room for error.
After claiming 3/23 in his four overs, Mukesh Choudhary bowled unchanged, as Dhoni went on the attack. In order to rattle the Mumbai Indians batting order, Choudhary bowled a superb line and a hard length to become the joint-most successful bowler for CSK with Dwayne Bravo with 16 wickets.
