
Infosys has reached a settlement with California on charges on the misclassification of foreign worker’s visa and tax frauds. The company has agreed to pay California $800,000 ( Rs 5.6 crore ) .
Company has brought workers using wrong visas to underpay them and avoid paying California payroll taxes such as unemployment insurance, disability insurance and employment training taxes,” Attorney General Xavier Becerra said.
Local report reveals that Infosys paid a whopping $8,00,000 for sending up to 500 employees to California in violation of the US immigration rules in the 13-year-long case.
