
1,096 new coronavirus infections were reported in a day – more than the number of cases that India has seen in all of 2018. This means that there are now more COVID-19 cases in India than there were during all of 2018 combined.
The death toll climbed to 5,21,345 with 81 fresh fatalities – the data updated at 8 am stated.
The active cases comprised 0.03 per cent of the total infections, and the national COVID-19 recovery rate remained at 98.76 per cent, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
In the span of 24 hours, a reduction of 432 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload.
India’s COVID-19 tally had surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19, 2020. The country crossed the grim milestone of two crore on May 4 and three crore on June 23 last year.
