According to data released by the Union Health Ministry on Sunday, India reported 2,226 new cases of Covid-19 with 65 deaths, and 2,202 patients recovered from the illness.
There are currently 14,955 active cases in India. This represents 0.03% of the total number of positive cases in the country.
With 2,202 patients recovering in the last 24 hours, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.75 percent. The total number of patients recovered (since the start of the pandemic) stands at 4,25,97,003.
Current weekly and daily optimism rates in the country stand at 0.50% and 0.50%, respectively.
India has so far conducted 84.67 Cr (84,67,97,414) cumulative tests in the last 24 hours.
COVID-19 vaccination coverage in India reached 192.28 Cr (1,92,28,66,524) as of 7 a.m. today. This was achieved through 2,42,06,537 sessions.
First, healthcare workers were inoculated on January 16 last year, followed by frontline workers on February 2 of last year.
India launched vaccination for people over the age of 45 on April 1, last year. The next phase of COVID-19 vaccination began on March 1 last year for people older than 60 years old and those with certain comorbid conditions.
From May 1, last year, the government was able to inoculate everyone over the age of 18 against the viral disease. The second stage of vaccination began on January 3 for adolescents aged 15-18.
From January 10, frontline healthcare workers and those over 60 with comorbidities will receive precaution doses of vaccines.
Children ages 12-14 have been immunized since March 16 and the comorbidity clause has been removed, so all people over 60 qualify for the precaution dose of Covid vaccine.
It was started on 16 March, 2022, that COVID-19 vaccinations were administered to adolescents aged 12-14. More than 2.61 Cr (2,61,95,248) have received their first dose. The COVID-19 precaution dose administration has also started from 10th April, 2022 onwards for the age group 18-59 years. So far, 3,10,701 precaution doses have been administered.
