During a land dispute in Uttar Pradesh’s Hamirpur district on Tuesday, a man is alleged to have hacked his mother to death with an axe.
The victim, Kusum Sahu, had three sons, and accused Madan was pressuring her to transfer the property into his name, but she refused. It is reported that the incident has occurred in Hamirpur, under the jurisdiction of Iteliya Baza police station.
Madan stabbed his mother to death in a fit of rage after a heated argument over property issues. Police are seeking to arrest the accused, who is currently on the run.
Jaria police station Inspector Ram Asre Saroj and Circle Officer Akhilesh Kumar rushed to the crime scene when they received the information. Post-mortem examination of the body was conducted by the police.
As per the police’s preliminary investigation, the accused, a labourer by profession, lives in Delhi along with his father and younger brothers. He came to his village in Hamirpur three months ago to discuss property issues with his mother. The two were locked in a land dispute and were engaged in heated arguments and conflicts every now and then.
Anup Kumar, SP, Hamirpur, said, “The accused and his elderly mother were often involved in altercations owing to a land dispute. Madan was mounting pressure on his mother to transfer the property to his name, which she refused. On Tuesday, the fight turned violent and took an ugly turn and Madan hacked his mother with an axe. The accused fled the area after killing his mother. We have launched an investigation and efforts are underway to nab him.”
