He travels 65 km for surgery after a 150-year-old trident pierces his throat

A 150-year-old trident was used to pierce the throat of a man from Nadia district in West Bengal. He traveled around 65 km with his throat pierced for the surgery, according to Bhaskar Ram.

An argument over a personal dispute on Sunday night resulted in a man piercing his throat with a trident. When her sister saw that scene, she fainted. With that trident stuck in his throat, Bhaskar traveled 65 km from Kalyani to NRS Medical College in Kolkata.

A trident was found stuck in the patient’s throat, according to hospital sources, around 3 am on Sunday night. It was discovered by the doctors that the trishul, which is about 30 cm long, has been stuck in his body for hundreds of years. Astonishingly, no pain was felt by the patient.

What exactly was he suffering from, doctors asked? He told the doctors that despite having a trident pierced in his neck, he was in no pain. Seeing this scene, the hospital’s doctors were shocked.

As soon as NRS Hospital authorities realized the significance of the incident, a special medical team was formed. Under the leadership of Associate Professor Dr Pranabashish Banerjee, Dr Arpita Mahanti, Sutirtha Saha, and Dr Madhurima formed a team of specialist doctors.

In order to remove the trident from the patient’s throat, hospital authorities decided to perform an urgent operation. Immediately after that, Pranabasis Banerjee, an ENT specialist, began the surgery. With the skill of highly experienced doctors, the trident was finally removed from the patient’s throat in this rare surgery of a few hours.

In an interview with India Today, Dr Pranabashish Banerjee said, “The surgery was too risky for our team to perform. Nevertheless, it was done, and the patient is doing well.”

“The patient could have died in a few minutes in such an accident. However, he didn’t feel any pain, and he spoke to us and was so calm beforehand. This naturally surprised the medical community,” the doctor said.

Bhaskar Ram’s house kept the 150-year-old trident on God’s alter for about one and a half centuries, according to family sources. The historical trident has been worshipped for generations by Bhaskar Ram.
