From December 15, the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee (KMSC) will operate gherao toll plazas on national highways. They have decided to intensify their struggle for their demands, said Sarwan Singh Pandher, state general secretary, KMSC
KMSC has developed an action plan following the government’s lackadaisical approach to farming issues. From December 15 to January 15, roads will be toll-free for the public, according to Pandher. Furthermore, the organization would ensure that toll employees’ salaries were paid by the companies during the period.
Instead of creating policies for the benefit of the public, Pandher said, the government worked for a few business houses, while the population suffered unemployment and poverty. By holding protests, people are becoming aware of their rights and forcing governments to work in the right direction in the age of technology.
