Amit Shah praised India’s star batsman, Virat Kohli, for his match-winning knock after India defeated Pakistan by five wickets in Melbourne’s T20 World Cup.
The leader praised the right-handed batsman for his thrilling performance, calling it a “cracking innings” and calling it a “perfect way to start the T20 World Cup.” Union Home Minister Amit Shah tweeted, “A perfect way to start the T20 World Cup…Deepawali begins. What a cracker by @imVkohli. Congratulations to the entire team.”
A well-deserved victory was also celebrated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his microblogging site. In the same vein as HM Shah, he hailed former Indian skipper Virat Kohli for leading the team to a historic win. Virat Kohli, who played an outstanding innings that demonstrated remarkable tenacity, deserves special mention for his spectacular innings. Best wishes for the games ahead,” PM Modi tweeted.
Rajnath Singh, Union Defence Minister, praised Kohli for his fine innings during the team’s performance in Melbourne. “TEAM India put on a phenomenal performance against Pakistan in Melbourne today. Virat Kohli scored one of his finest innings ever! This incredible victory has delighted Indian cricket fans across the world. The Union Defence Minister tweeted, “Congratulations to Team India on this spectacular victory.”
“It’s a surreal atmosphere, I don’t know how that happened,” Virat Kohli said after guiding India to a sensational victory. I have no words for it. Hardik (Pandya) said we could do it if we stayed until the end. We decided to take Shaheen (Afridi) down when he bowled from the pavilion end. Haris (Rauf) is their main bowler, and I bowled two sixes. If I could take Haris down, they would panic.”
Kohli also added, “From 28 in 8 to 16 in 6, I tried to follow my instincts. The first one was the back of a hand-slower ball (the one over long-on). Standing here, I feel like it was meant to be.
