In India, the daily Covid tally on Wednesday reached a new high in around three months, with 8,822 new cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total to 4,32,45,517. The health ministry reports 15 deaths since Tuesday, bringing the total number of deaths caused by the virus to 5,24,792.
There are currently 53,637 active cases. They represent 0.12 percent of the total number of cases.
Health ministry data indicated that the recovery rate in the country is currently at 98.67 percent after 5,718 people recovered in the last 24 hours.
