CM Nitish Kumar has recommended that Governor sack VIP chief Mukesh Sahani from the Bihar Cabinet.

On Sunday, Nitish Kumar recommended Governor Phagu Chauhan to sack minister for fisheries and animal husbandry Mukesh Sahani from his cabinet.

The BJP had submitted a written submission to the Governor following a written submission from ally Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This party had contended that Sahani was “no longer part of the NDA”. The party alleged that he had cheated the fishermen and the department, and reported news agency PTI. Sahani, who has raised a banner of revolt against the BJP, floated his own party- Vikassheel Insaan Party — in November 2018. He left an alliance with Tejashwi Yadav alleging that he was not being given a fair deal in sharing seats in relation to Assembly polls slated for 2020.

Sahani, who is known as “Son of Mallah” and was once a set designer for Bollywood stars such as Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan, was later inducted into the NDA in Bihar and the Nitish Kumar’s cabinet at the instance of the BJP after a meeting with Union Home Minister

In the Bihar elections, his party won four seats but Sahani failed to win. Nonetheless, the BJP backed him. It helped him to get a place in the cabinet and also got him elected to the legislative council- since he had lost his assembly seat. The NDA in Bihar includes Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) and former CM Jitan Ram Manjhi’s Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM). Earlier in the week, in a major setback for Sahani, all his three MLAs – Raju Kumar Singh (Sahebganj), Misri Lal Yadav (Alinagar) and Swarna Singh (Gaura Bouram) quit the VIP and joined forces with BJP . Following this, Sahani is now left as only representative from his party as an MLC. However, he has refused to resign from his post saying that it is not up to Nitish Kumar whether or not he should resigned; rather it is up tothe Cabinet decision on it.
