Chandigarh, October 3 ( P2P): Alleged efforts have been started by the Chief Engineer (Headquarters) of PWD to linger on the draft of charge sheets of 39 engineers.
These were the allegations that the officers did not perform their duty honestly to take action against the toll plaza, which was a violation of to following terms and conditions. This negligence of Engineers led to a burden of Rs 40 crore to the people. It is alleged that the company delayed overlaying (carpeting) of roads that has to be done at regular intervals as per the build-operate-transfer (BOT) contract and no action was initiated against the company by the engineers.
According to a letter sent by the government to the chief engineer (headquarters), PWD on
September 17, it has been asked to prepare a draft of the chargesheet against the officials responsible for the delay in overlaying ever since 2009 when the first carpeting was due by the company on a particular road. These roads were includes Dakha-Halwara-Raikot-Barnala, Morinda-Kurali-Siswan road, Kirtapur Sahib-Nangal-Una road, Jagraon-Nokodar, Patiala-Samana-Patran, and Balachaur-Garshankar-Hoshiarpur-Dasuya.
It was said the letter to send the draft of the chargesheet of the undersigned officials for ‘major punishment’ within seven days. The time has passed for instructions by the government to prepare a draft of the charge sheet against the engineers, but the charge sheet could not be made yet. The important thing, in this case, is that Chief Engineer (HQ) Arun Kumar has been entrusted with the task of preparing the charge sheet and he himself is also included in the list against whom the charge sheet is to be made. They are not able to make their own charge sheet.
When contacted to Harbhajan Singh ETO, PWD Minister in this regard, he said strict action will be taken against negligence officers.
