The Vancouver Sun reported that two Indian-origin people, including Brothers Keepers gangster Meninder Dhaliwal, were killed in a shootout in Whistler Village on Sunday.

Several people have been arrested in connection with the shooting. Dhaliwal (29), a member of the gang, died on the spot; Satinder Gill, who was not part of the gang, died later at a hospital.

Police officials told CTV News that one person died at the scene and one died at the Whistler Medical Clinic due to injuries.

According to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, the shootout was related to a gang conflict in the Lower Mainland. A lockdown was imposed on Sunday in Whistler Village, a ski resort.

According to police officials, there is no further risk to the public despite the brazen daytime shooting in a busy village. Dhaliwal’s brother Harb was also shot down by a hitman last year outside a Vancouver nightclub, according to the New York Post. A warning poster of six gangsters wanted by Vancouver Police includes another brother, Barinder.
