Several area sarpanches have announced that if Labh Singh Ugoke does not apologise, they will launch an agitation against him. The son of Sehna Sarpanch Malkiat Kaur, accused the MLA of threatening Sukhvinder Singh Calcutta for opposing the opening of an Aam Aadmi Clinic in the Primary Health Centre (PHC) of Sehna.
The MLA should not have used such insulting language when Sukhavinder was speaking as the village representative. In the event that the MLA does not apologize by next Saturday at Tapa, we will protest in front of his house. Following a meeting of various panchayats at Sehna, Ravinder Rinku, chief of Punjab’s Panchayat Union, said that all panchayats supported Sukhvinder.
A few days ago, Sukhvinder told MLA Ugoke that they welcomed the decision of the Punjab Government to open clinics. He offered free land and a free building for the clinic, but requested that the government do not convert the PHC into a clinic, which should be set up in another building.
But MLA Ugoke lost his cool and threatened to put me in jail in front of police and civil officers. Simranjit Singh Mann, our Member of Parliament (MP), also came today to express support and to request the registration of an FIR against the MLA. There has also been support from other sarpanches and political parties. Sukhvinder called for the dismissal of MLA Ugoke immediately.
Besides demanding legal action, the Sangrur MP also donated Rs 5 lakh for the development of the Sehna hospital.
According to the MLA, if we hadn’t respected you, we would have slapped you and put you in jail. Despite the Punjab Government’s efforts to improve health facilities, some people are misguiding area residents.”
