Netanyahu won the Israeli general elections on Thursday, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated him. In a tweet posted in Hebrew, Modi said, “I look forward to deepening the strategic partnership between India and Israel together.”
Furthermore, he thanked the outgoing Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid for “important contributions to India-Israel strategic partnership.” He added, “I look forward to continuing our fruitful exchange of ideas.”
Benjamin Netanyahu’s party Likud and its far-right allies won a clear majority in Thursday’s election, leading Lapid to concede defeat. Israeli parliament is composed of 120 members, and the right-wing bloc led by Netanyahu won 64 seats.
