According to the army’s media wing, Pakistani security forces killed nine members of the outlawed Baloch Republican Army during a raid on their hideout in Balochistan province.After the operation, three members of the outfit were arrested after being injured.

According to the Inter Services Public Relations wing of the Pakistan Army, the security forces raided Kohlu district in Balochistan province after receiving a tip-off that members of the outfit were holed up there.

Security forces and insurgents engaged in intense fire during the special operation in Kohlu district on Saturday, the statement said.

A statement from the Pakistan Army said that these terrorists were also involved in kidnappings for ransom, extortion rackets, and attacks on security forces in the area.

These militants attacked engineers and labourers from other regions coming to Balochistan on various assignments. Efforts were under way to remove any other militant hideouts from the area, it said.

The BRA has not yet issued a statement. In terms of landmass, Balochistan is Pakistan’s largest province. It is also the site of the multibillion-dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
