The advocate was riding pillion on Ola scooter which met with an accident and he was beaten up
A 26-year-old advocate from Vadodara who was to attend proceedings in Gujarat High Court was assaulted by three persons near Shastrinagar crossroads on Wednesday evening.
The advocate sustained injuries to his head. Naranpura police was in the process of registering an FIR even as two persons were detained by a police team that reached the spot of the incident.
Vadodara resident Jaydev Acharya reached the city on Wednesday morning to appear in a court proceeding at Gujarat High Court. After completing his work, Acharya took an Ola two-wheeler riding pillion to CTM to catch a bus for Vadodara. Soon after they went past Shastrinagar crossroads, an accident took place due to heavy traffic where Acharya’s two-wheeler was hit by another scooter.
Acharya and the Ola driver fell following the accident. Two persons came and intervened.
Acharya said, “The two persons who were standing nearby had nothing to do with the accident, but they came and started arguing with the Ola driver. So I called up the police control room and intervened to save the driver, but the duo started beating me up.”
The advocate added that by this time a third person intervened and he too was bashed up with sticks with one landing on his head. Though multiple calls were made to the police control room by Acharya, a team from the Naranpura police reached the spot, seeing which one person from the group escaped and the other two were brought to the police station. Acharya was taken to the Sola Civil Hospital for treatment and the cops had initiated the process of registering an FIR by Wednesday night.
