An IAS officer has moved the Supreme Court to withdraw his name from a case challenging the revocation of Article 370

Shah Faesal, an IAS officer, has asked the Supreme Court to remove his name from a petition challenging the President’s decision to revoke Article 370 of the Constitution, which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

He filed his petition in the top court on August 26, 2019, shortly after launching his party, Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement (JKPM).

After Faesal applied to withdraw his resignation in April, the government accepted his request.

A petition filed by Faesal seeking his name removed from a list of seven petitioners challenging the scrapping of Article 370 was filed in April this year.

In addition to Javid Ahmad Bhat, Shehla Rashid Shora, Ilyas Laway, Saif Ali Khan, Rohit Sharma, and Mohammad Hussain Padder, the petition was signed by several others.

Jammu and Kashmir was formally bifurcated into two Union Territories by the Centre on August 5, 2019.
