Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari is being replaced by former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and former Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan.
As of now, top leadership is considering certain names despite not being able to say with certainty. It was considered that Captain Amarinder and Mahajan were qualified to serve as governors due to their age and experience in politics.
In 2021, Capt Amarinder quit the Congress after he was unceremoniously removed as Punjab CM, and floated the Punjab Lok Congress, which he later merged with
the BJP. His appointment to the saffron party’s national executive was announced recently.
In the Lok Sabha, Mahajan represented Indore from 1989 to 2019. She might be favored by the upcoming Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, in addition to her other qualifications.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was recently informed by Koshyari that he wanted to resign.
