Addiction to mobile games leads the son of a policeman to steal Rs 36 lakh from his mother’s bank accounts in Hyderabad

Using his mother’s SBI and HDFC accounts, the 16-year-old son of a late policeman squandered Rs 36 lakh on online gaming.

The boy lives in Amberpet, Hyderabad. His grandfather gave him the phone that had a shooting game on it.

The first thing he did was steal Rs 1,500 and Rs 10,000 from his mother’s account for in-app purchases. Police in Hyderabad says he later became addicted to the game.

The boy is the son of a late police official. He studies in Class 11. The police said he made payments ranging from Rs 1.45 lakh to Rs 2 lakh.

When the boy’s mother went to withdraw money from her SBI account, the matter came to light. About Rs 27 lakh were held in the account. She was utterly shocked to learn that the entire amount was taken out without her knowledge. As a result, she checked her HDFC account and discovered that Rs 9 lakh had been withdrawn.

She contacted the cybercrime unit.

It was credited to the two accounts that she received compensation for the loss of her husband.
