During the 6th India Mobile Congress (IMC 2022), Bharti Airtel Chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal announced the launch of 5G services in India. India’s second-largest telco now offers 5G services in select cities. According to the company, a nationwide network will be in place by March 2024.

Where can I get Airtel 5G?

A total of eight cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Varanasi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Nagpur, and Siliguri, are now available with Airtel 5G.

Which areas and phones are compatible with 5G?

Using the Airtel Thanks app – available for Android and iOS devices – users can find out if 5G is available in their area and whether their phone is 5G compatible.

Over Rs 43,084 was spent by Airtel to acquire spectrum at this year’s 5G auction. In its new 5G service, Airtel claims to offer speeds 30 times greater than 4G.

Narendra Modi inaugurated the 6th India Mobile Congress. Also attending were Vodafone Idea’s Chairman, Kumar Mangalam Birla, and Mukesh Ambani of Reliance Industries. Besides Akash Ambani, Jio’s Chairman was also in attendance. It is expected that Jio 5G services will launch in India by October end, starting with four major metropolises, including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata, before being expanded to the rest of the country by December 2023.
