A child belonging to a migrant woman was allegedly stolen by an unidentified girl posing as a nurse at the Civil Hospital here on Sunday.

After experiencing labour pains, Babli Rani (25) of Etawah in Uttar Pradesh, currently living in Pratap Nagar here, was admitted to Women and Child Care Hospital of the Civil Hospital. She gave birth to a boy on December 1. In order to recover, the woman and child were admitted to the hospital.

In the early afternoon today, a nurse in uniform came to Babli and told her that her child had to go to the vaccination ward.

Muskan, Babli’s niece, was present at this time. Muskan was told by Babli to go along with the nurse to get her child vaccinated. Muskaan was told to get Babli’s Aadhaar card by the unidentified girl on the way to the vaccination ward. Muskaan found the girl missing when he returned.

Searching for the child and speaking to staff led to the child being reported stolen, and the incident was reported to the hospital’s management.

A woman wearing a nurse’s uniform and wearing a mask was accompanied by the girl, according to CCTV footage. They were doing reconnaissance outside the SMO office. Upon leaving the hospital premises, the woman and the girl removed the nurse’s uniform and left in plain clothes.

Additionally, the woman who accompanied the girl had visited the hospital the previous day and was seen roaming the mother-child ward. Also, she inquired about which women had delivered boys among the patients.

In response to the kin of some of the patients interrupting her, she said she was looking for her relative.

A complaint was filed by SMO Dr Satish Jindal and CCTV footage was provided to the police.
