A bizman loses Rs 55 lakh after being lured by a trip to the US

The 32-year-old Chandkheda resident had sought an ETA by paying a huge amount

A businessman based in Chandkheda has registered an offence with the Navrangpura police against five persons for allegedly duping him of Rs 55 lakh on the pretext of arranging a visa for him to the US.

Chandkheda resident Hareshkumar Patel (32) in his complaint states that in June last year, he had met one Manoj Chaudhary who claimed he ran a tour agency that sent people out of country. The condition was to first deposit the entire money in an angadia firm as reserve. After Patel stated that he intended to have an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation) for the US, he was asked to shell out Rs 55 lakh as cost, including cost of ticket.
Thereafter, last October, Patel visited an angadia firm named M Patel & Co, near Sardar Patel Stadium and handed over Rs 30 lakh in cash. In return he was given a chit on which Rs 30,000 was written and Patel was told nobody writes the actual amount at angadia firms . In between Patel was taken to Delhi where he was made to stay in a hotel stating that his US tickets will also be arranged. Then another Rs 25 lakh was deposited by Patel’s friend in Ahmedabad with the same angadia firm.
However, when no tickets were issued to him, Patel returned to Ahmedabad and when he visited the angadia firm, it was closed down. He then approached the cops and registered an offence at Navrangpura police station against four persons named Manojkumar Chaudhary, Vinay Patel, Mahesh Patel, Sunil Patel along with the angadia firm.
